General view of the amphitheatre |
The amphitheatre “Hector Santangelo" is located next to Urquiza’s Park in the city of Parana, in the province of Entre Rios. The name of the amphitheatre remembers the main promoter of theatre plays in the province.
A privileged view of the amphitheatre located in the area known as the “tiger’s mouth”, on the river’s promenade, can be obtained from the Mayorazgo Hotel.
The amphitheatre is quite recent, but it is very important for the city since it allows all sorts of cultural performances.
The construction was begun in June 1983 and it was inaugurated on the 6th of December of 1985, although it had not yet been finalized by that time.

| The natural depression |
The amphitheatre is located in a natural depression of the ravine, and the architects Mirta Graciela Dujovne and Osvaldo Lifschitz took advantage of this circumstance when developing the lines and shapes of the magnificent amphitheatre.
It can host up to 2 thousand people and the stage can be used for theatre plays, film projections or music performances in the open air, since its acoustic is perfect, allowing the public to see or listen from every spot.
The amphitheatre has one more natural charm. Once located in that semi-circle you will have the fantastic feeling of being isolated from all the sounds that might surround Urquiza’s Park, in the city of Parana, and this is an experience worth having even when there are no performances taking place in the amphitheatre.
